In severe disrepair after years of vacancy, this 175-year-old Chatham home was thoughtfully restored with a deep respect for its history and character. Rather than pursuing demolition, the project focused on preserving the original structure wherever possible, including saving much of the original trim, front doors, and exterior details.

Working closely with an architect, structural engineer, and the Chatham Historic Board, the home was carefully evaluated, stabilized, and refreshed to reflect its original appearance. A modest rear addition introduced a new family room and second-floor primary bedroom, designed to remain true to the home’s historic scale and style.

The result is a revitalized classic that blends old-house charm with renewed functionality, bringing new life back to both the home and its surrounding neighborhood.
